Welcome to my first blog post! I’m so excited you stopped by. Let me introduce myself.
I’m Pepper and I’m a prepper! I can’t believe it myself, but sometimes things happen in life that make you take a second look at how you see things and the next thing you know… you become a prepper!
My aha moment, though it was more of a clunk on the head moment, came when I got caught up in Hurricane Sandy. To say I wasn’t prepared is an understatement. I lost everything, except for a few things I had packed and taken with me when I was evacuated. When I was finally allowed to return home a week later, there wasn’t much left to see. The small bungalow I had been renting on the Jersey shore had taken a hard hit and was eventually condemned. I salvaged what I could, which wasn’t much, and I was more heartbroken than I ever thought possible.
The experience took its toll on me and so I left the Jersey shore and moved back to my hometown of Willow Lake, Pennsylvania to stay with my mom and dad until the renovations on my Aunt Effie’s house, I inherited, were finished.
To get back some of the security the storm had taken from me, I started to learn about being a prepper. Unexpectedly, it turned into a career. I am now prepped and prepared—my new mantra.
I’ll be sharing all I learned as well as my life in the woods of PA in my blog posts and newsletters. So hurry and subscribe!
Right now, I’m concerned about my new neighbors at Willow Lake Lodge. Its sixty acres surround my three acres and I’m worried over who the new owners might be and their plans for the lodge. Rumor has it that a paramilitary group has moved in. My best friend from kindergarten, Amy, doesn’t think having some hunky men around is a bad idea.
As for me—I worry that my peaceful life is about to change.
