Make the Most of the Waning Summer

Have you noticed how the days are growing slightly shorter and a hint of crispness begins to find its way into the evening air. Are we really at the doorstep to the end of summer? Has summer gone by that quickly? While the transition to autumn holds its own beauty and charm, I find there’s something bittersweet about bidding farewell to the carefree days of summer. But fear not, for there’s still time to make the most of the last few weeks of summer.

Outdoor Adventures

Summer is the perfect time for outdoor exploration, but do you find there is always one thing we plan to do before the end of summer but never manage to do it. Don’t wait! Do it now! Take that day trip you were planning on. Hike that scenic trail you’ve been talking about. Go on that picnic. Spend that extra time on the beach. Visit that friend you planned on visiting. Do that thing you didn’t get around to doing before the summer ends.

Beach Bliss

If you’re lucky enough to live near a beach, now’s the time to soak up those sun rays and embrace the waves. Whether you’re into swimming, building sandcastles, or simply lounging with a good book, the beach is the ultimate summer sanctuary. So, soak up what beaches days you can.

Festivals and Events

Many places host end-of-summer festivals and events. From food fairs to music festivals, there’s no shortage of fun to be had. Check out local event listings and mark your calendar for a memorable day out. I particularly love the food festivals; seafood festival, wine festival, beer festival, best pie festival, burger festival, and more. Pair the food with music and it makes for a great day! Though I must say Willow Lake Book Fair is at the top of my list.

Barbecues and Outdoor Dining

Fire up the grill and invite friends and family over for an end-of-summer barbecue. Invite everyone to bring their favorite dish and feast! Or create an intimate setting for just two and enjoy time with each other.

Starry Nights

Summer nights are perfect for stargazing. Lay out a blanket, gaze at the stars, and maybe even catch a glimpse of a meteor shower. It’s a serene and awe-inspiring way to end the day and to enjoy the last lingering days of summer.

Capture the Moment

You’re making summer memories. Capture them in photos. Take photos of the people you’re spending time with, the places you’re visiting, and the experiences you’re having. These memories will warm your heart during the colder months and in years to come.

Self-Care and Relaxation

Summer can sometimes be hectic, so take some time to relax and pamper yourself. Read a book in a hammock, take long walks in the evening, or simply sit and meditate. Recharge your batteries before the hustle and bustle of autumn and the holiday season begins.

Plan for the Future

Use this time to dream about your future adventures. Research new destinations you’d like to visit, activities you want to try, and start making tentative plans. It’s always great to have  something to look forward to.

So, make the most of the waning summer!

Until next time… Stay prepped & prepared!
