What to Pack in Your Beach Bag... Prepper Edition!

BookBrushImage 2025 8 4 20 635A day at the beach should be simple—sun, surf, and maybe a good book. But just because the goal is relaxation doesn’t mean we leave preparedness behind. A little planning goes a long way when you’re miles from home, surrounded by sand, sun, and crowds.

Here’s what I pack in my beach bag—not just for comfort, but for readiness:

1. Sunscreen (and then a backup bottle)

One for initial coverage, one for reapplication. Broad spectrum, water-resistant, and at least SPF 30. I also tuck in a small aloe gel packet in case I miss a spot.

2. Hydration Essentials

Insulated water bottle, electrolyte packets, and an extra bottle or two in a cooler bag. Dehydration sets in fast under the sun, and I prefer to stay ahead of it.

3. Lightweight First Aid Kit

Band-aids, antiseptic wipes, tweezers (for splinters or sea urchins), antihistamines, and motion sickness tablets. It doesn’t take up much space, but it covers the unexpected.

4. Multipurpose Cloth

Quick-dry towel, makeshift blanket, impromptu sunshade—this one item can serve a dozen purposes.

5. Snacks That Don’t Melt or Spoil

Dried fruit, granola bars, sunflower seeds. Something portable, non-perishable, and energizing.

6. Safety Whistle & Small Flashlight

Lightweight, barely noticeable—but both have helped more than once, especially when beach outings stretch into the evening.

7. Phone in a Waterproof Pouch

It protects against water, sand, and my own clumsiness. I keep a portable charger in the bag, too.

8. Sunglasses, Hat, and an Extra Hair Tie

Because comfort and visibility matter when you’re trying to relax and stay aware of your surroundings.

Whether it’s a solo stroll at sunrise or a full-family day on the sand, a well-packed bag turns a beach day into a secure, enjoyable experience. You can relax—because you’ve planned to.

Stay prepped and prepared,

Pepper
