Welcome Fall
by Pepper the Prepper
The fireflies have flickered out,
The garden’s looking bare.
There’s pumpkin spice in every shop
And Mo’s got leaves stuck in his hair.
The air is crisp, the apples ripe,
The wind begins to call…
So I pulled on boots and flannel shirt,
Because, my friends—it’s FALL.
Now some folks sip their cider slow
And bask in golden light,
While I’m out checking fuel reserves
And flashlights every night.
The window seals got tested,
The smoke alarms did too.
I cleaned the vents and tightened knobs—
The things you forget to do.
I trimmed the herbs for drying racks,
Hung thyme and sage with care.
I also stocked the first-aid bin,
In case injuries flair.
The rake is prepped. The tarp is patched.
The kindling’s nice and dry.
And Mo’s new vest? Reflective!
So, he’ll shine ‘neath moonlit sky.
So, here’s to fall, to flannel,
To soups that simmer slow.
To prepping now with purpose—
Before the first dusting of snow.
Here’s to being ready,
To feeling strong, not small—
To prepping through the seasons…
And saying, “Welcome, Fall.”
Until next time…
Stay prepped and prepared,
Pepper
